A delicate and elegant five-piece nesting doll set initialled Н.С. by the artist - each doll painted in cream and white with flowing blue floral scrollwork covering the entire body. The faces have a distinctive refined quality with dark eyes and a pale, almost porcelain complexion that gives the set a cool, sophisticated feel quite different from the more traditional rosy-cheeked style.
A beautifully restrained set where the blue and white palette does all the talking - the continuous floral pattern from largest to smallest is particularly well executed.
